Dawg Store and other Ramblings
Dawg Store
The store has come and gone. Some of the products were OK, but even with a zero profit margin, they were a little pricey. So why beat a dead horse?
Our goal here is to raise enough revenue to maintain the site. The coins and advertising are sufficing in that goal and we even made enough in coin sales to make a substantial contribution to Hurricane Relief last fall.
If you want to buy hats and shirts and the such, there's plenty of folks around in that business. In fact, we made this offer before, and it kind of fell flat:
You may want to be in the military trinkets business or know someone that wants to be in that business. Whatever the case,
we'll sell whatever it is exclusively on this site and we won't offer competing products.
We'll expect a small percentage of the profit as thanks for providing sales space. This is similar to the deal the guy who's makes the decals works under, but he costs them out to us and we add a mark-up. We do the advertising and orders management and he does the production and shipping. It's a drop-shipping business model on a miniscule scale.
This kind of arrangement would suit a 2nd career retiree to a tee or a civilian business in your local area who would like an exclusivity deal.
Ramblings
By the way, I can't remember the last time someone's replied to any forum postings. Forums are supposed to generate conversation and interest in a topic.
I know several people have tried to start a topic, but it died right out of the gate. Several people in the poll said they'd be more interested if the old message board was back up, but if you look at those posts in the archive, you'll see they were flat too.
It's a mystery--any Sherlocks out there want to provide some clues?
