Nortel Meridian 1 PBX Technical Support Engineer

Our client has asked us to locate a Superstar Nortel Meridian 1 Technical Support Engineer that can provide system engineering and design for various Nortel product solutions. In this position the successful candidate will assist with RFP proposals and product marketing for Nortel products. The customers will be a blend of Federal and Enterprise. The position will be strictly dedicated to Nortel products for both Pre-Sales and Technical Support. The successful candidate will at times be called upon to support the training of customers, including Nortel Qualified Sales Professionals. Other duties may include, but not limited to the review of customer orders for accuracy and potential add-on sales opportunities in a pre-sales environment, act as an advisor to customers and inside sales staff on Nortel products and services, as well as a liaison to Nortel for future product announcements, etc. This position will provide highly advanced / conventional technical solutions and Technical Support for all products as assigned. Applications solutions consist of a broad range of engineering concepts, pre / post sales technical support functions in telephony, data / voice transmission, cable, video, wireless, and network technologies. Approximately 20% Travel to customer sites to provide consulting and/or training may be required. The candidate will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for application configuration issues on highly complex engineering matters. Candidates with Nortel Networks Design Certification or Nortel equipment experience, including Nortel ordering experience (NNEC) will be given special consideration. Additional training will be provided as required. Candidate is should have experience in the following functional areas: WAN Access Technologies - Wiring Systems - LAN/WAN systems - CTI integration - PBX and Key IP
Requirements:
Job requires a level of knowledge typically gained through a combination of a college degree (BS Technical/Engineering) and/or relevant work experience, totaling 10 years post-high school or equivalent.
5 years Technical Support / Engineering experience in telecommunications industry.
Strong analytical / organizational/problem-solving skills.
Effective oral, written, communication, and presentation skills.
Engineering skills.
Customer focused.
Prior Installation or Operations experience.
Proficient with Nortel NNEC tool is a great value.
Exposure to customer support environment.
