Allen Ackermann

Al was a HICS Troop and was stationed at Malmstrom, Minot, Grand Forks and Vandenberg AFB's.

April 9, 2005 ALLEN ACKERMANN 1947-2005
Memorial services for Allen W. Ackermann, 58, of Santa Maria and former Lompoc resident, will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2005 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Ocean Ave., Lompoc. The Rev. John Reil will officiate and military honors will be rendered by Vandenberg Air Force Base.
Allen was born in Sacramento, CA. to James and Bertha Whitcomb Ackermann. He served with the U.S. Air Force for 24 years retiring from Vandenberg in 1991 as a master sergeant. He came to Lompoc in 1984 from Grand Forks, ND. and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Following his military retirement, he continued his communication skills in cable maintenance and was most recently employed with Endyne Corporation until his illness.
Allen enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting and camping and in his earlier years was a leader with the Boy Scouts. He was also an avid history buff, particularly expanding his knowledge of trains and planes.
He died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Marian Medical Center, Santa Maria.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sharen and their son, James both of Santa Maria and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Cynthia.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 6300 Wilshire Blvd, #100, Los Angeles, CA. 90048 or American Heart Association, P.O. Box 636, Santa Barbara, CA. 93102.
Arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
