Nortel Senior Meridian 1 PBX Technician - Balad

The Nortel Meridian 1 Switch Technician is responsible for the advanced operation and maintenance of switching, data communications, and peripheral equipment associated with the Meridian 1 PBX at the US Military location. The successful candidate will be eating and living on a US Military base. Other duties include coordinating installation, testing, and troubleshooting of transmission facilities (OC48, T3, T1, and DSO); troubleshooting, upgrading, and administering multiple vendor systems; maintaining system applications; ensuring quality customer service; and providing support to a varied user community; updating daily logs with site specific information; and composing clear and concise reports for customer documentation. The PBX Technician is expected to perform his/her duties with minimum supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled. This job will require a one year commitment.
Location is Balad, Iraq.

Job Responsibilities

Ability to troubleshoot issues within the following Nortel Product Line: Nortel Meridian 1 platform, Communications Server 1000 series, Call Pilot, and peripheral equipment.
Ability to work extremely flexible hours and support on-call duties and shift work is required.
Job Qualifications

The successful candidate must be able to pass a back ground investigation and the ability to obatin a DoD Secret Clearance. This requires a clean background.
Minimum Associates degree, technical degree, relevant military experience, equivalent special electronics training, or equivalent work experience is required.
Minimum 4 years experience and training in Nortel Meridian 1 PBX switching systems.
General knowledge in the use of electronic test equipment is required.
The ability to obtain and hold secret clearance is required.
Position requires Nortel Meridian 1 Certification, commercial or military training on switch. (Example: Option11, Option81, Option81C, CS1K etc.).The candidate must provide proof of certifications / training.
Minimum high school or equivalent education required.
