Congrates on your selection. I'm currently at Lajes with 4 other guys in the shop. So far we have no clue that you are coming. We had a SSgt inboung for November but he was cancelled.
Work wise, we do alot of PMI's, we have around 6 HF antennas and quit a few 197 and 1181's. We have some cable jobs but we have a local national that does most of the cable work along with locates. We do alot of LAN jobs. Housing is okay. They are currently remodeling alot of the old base housing and the few that live in the un-remodeled ones they don't like it, they say they are small. A few of them are relativley small for 2-3 people. There is a new housing area but getting up "on the hill" is by luck for a SrA-TSgt, but it happens. I am currently on "the hill" You are only allowed 25% of your full weight allowance, or 2500 pounds, which ever they say.
To ride a motorcycle here you need a stateside licence first. After that not sure. The shopping can get fustrating due to the locals are allowed to shop at both BX's and the shopette. And thursday's and fridays the retiree's and anyone who has a special pass from the portuguese newspaper can get on base. Sounds horrible I know. They let them shop there due to if only military shop there we would only be authorized a bx the size of one in a deployed location, and all the buildings would be consolidated into 1. The commissary is good, I've herd of there being a shortage on meats and vegetables during winter months ( I was deployed last winter) due to high winds and the plans can't land or leave. Any other questions feel free to contact TSgt Blake,Caleb or myself SSgt Heaney,Christopher. TSgt Blake will be running the shop. Again congrates and maybe see you soon.

Thanks Peanut for the info, I happened to be in Al Dahfra right after you. And yes the spinners were still there for the Polaris. I was Nguyen's replacement and Tenny was still there. So I guess it is off to High tower climbing for me. I haven't climbed in like 6 years, back when I was at PSAB. If you know of anybody over there wanting to get rid of an old Jeep wrangler, I should be there in the middle of Feb.

Shunk, You are also going to need a copy or the original of your MSF(motorcycle safety foundation) card along w/ the stateside endorsement. Grats on the assignment. I am currently in tech school. Forced to x-train, but at least I was able to get telephone so the transition won't be too bad. Take care and look me up on global.
