Harold Obeckson

I am sorry to be the informer of sad news. We lost OB a couple of weeks ago. Cancer. Dec 3 2007 I believe was the date.
He passed away in Florida. My condolences to Kathy, the kids and the rest of the family.
OB was a great man and easy to work for. Understanding when needed and harsh when necessary. Germany was where I worked for him 1836th. God speed old friend

I want to add my thoughts and hopes for OB's family and friends. I was part of then SrA (he was one of the first in the mid-70's) Olbekson's first EI experience working with him in England, Germany, Belgium, etc. He was a fast learner (this was his jump to twisted pair from HICS), good team player and a great friend. I would have never heard of Libby, Montana if I hadn't met him. The "Code of the Road" keeps me from going into a lot more details on our TDY "adventures" (trust me, there were a lot) and I remember them with a smile and a chuckle.

This is Sad news. OB was my first Team Chief when I was stattioned in Germany (1836 EIG). We were TDY to Spang during the winter and remember jack hammering dirt due to it being so cold. The job had to get done. OB was a great person and I remember heading down into Spangalum (spelling??) village for a couple of beers (or "HA HA's" as he would say. He was great to work for and a great person.
Prayers to his family, God Speed.

LUKESTER !

This message is from Kathy Obeckson. Forwarded out to the friends of Harold "OB" Beckson His services are listed below.
If you want to send any pictures please send to me and I will forward to Kathy. Thanks from the cable winch. STACIE ARMSTRONG, 214 MAIN ST #4, BOONVILLE NY 13309 OR EMAIL STACIESFOR@YAHOO.COM

I wanted to write to you since you're a friend of O.B.'s and to let you know about the services we're having for him. I no longer have access to the military site message board and I wasn't able to log into it anyways since they canceled his log-on. But, I was able to read yours and 3 or 4 other messages posted there.

Half of his ashes were buried with military honors at Bushnell - Florida National Cemetery on December 11th. Fulfilling his request, we're doing a funeral service for him in his hometown, Libby, MT, on Saturday, July 5th. Nelson Vial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The service will be at The Christian Church, 100 Kootenai River Road, Libby, MT at 11:00 am. A short reception will follow at the church. Obituaries will be published in the local papers.
The next and last service will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, July 9th at The Buckle Club, Frontier Park, Carey & 8th Avenues, Cheyenne, WY at 2:00 pm. The service will be followed by a reception at the same location. An obituary will appear in the local paper as well.
I've created his life-in-pictures set to his favorite music for the services. I'm also putting together a Favorite Memories journal/scrapbook with e-mail messages, letters, cards, etc. from his family, friends and co-workers. If you have a picture(s) with O.B. in it that you'd like to share with me, that would be wonderful. I have very few pictures from his military days.
