Dave (say it isn't so) Taylor

Dave passed away last night, 14 Jan 2008 apparently from a heart attack, Dixie said they will do an autopsy to confirm cause. She also said she will probably have the funeral through the VA. Don't have any other info at this time.

Dave was a good friend. Worked with him in Germany when the Gulf War started. He will be remembered for his sence of humor and as a good friend.

My first 1839th E&I Project was working with Dave on a base job at Keesler (Way back in in 1976).

Back then, cable and antenna were separate entities, but I was just so impressed with how hard Dave worked and envious at how good he was at getting things done.

After asking someone about Dave, I realized he arrived about the same time as me and we were both 3 levels; so Dave was a natural leader. I caught up with him again many years later at Ramstein when he was in the 1836th and taking on the notorious 0808 project.

Condolences to Friends and Family.

Sorry to hear about Dave, I worked for him in the 1839/738th EIS Antenna Construction section both as a team chief and flight superintendent. He did my team chief cert at Tyndall AFB and everytime I talked to him I learned something new. He was one of the finest Team Chiefs that the E&I world had. He also completely restored a 73 Harley Shortster that I had after numerous attempts to buy it from me and it was perfect. My condolences to Dixie and all friends and family. Rest in Peace Brother!

Really sucks to hear about Dave! Worked for him at the 1836th in early 90's. Had a house right down the street from him up in the mountains. Use to wrench on the harley with Dave and Lou often...great times! Last time I seen Dave was at E&I reunion at Keesler approx. 6 years ago...although I don't remember a whole lot from that weekend...must of had too much fun! He was a great inspiration to as a leader, one hell of a great guy to party with and most of all...a great friend. He will be missed deeply...

Dave and I had some good times while stationed at Keesler, and continued our friendship after our retirements. I will miss him.
Per the local Sun Herald newspaper, a memorial service will be held for Dave on 19 January 08 at 12:30 PM at the Biloxi National Cemetary.

Dave was a great supervisor to all of us at the 1836. He really cared about his troops and he listened to them as well. He would work right beside you and then ask you what time we were all going to party. He really had an influence on me. Those type of people are hard to find. I saw Dave down in Biloxi in 2006 when I went to cross train. I can't believe he is gone. You will be missed deeply. My thoughts and prayers are with Dixie and family. E&I by GOD.

Dave. I will miss the days of hearing bet you 50 dollars, and go gators. I had some good times in germany with you fighting about the kentucky wildcats and florida gators, poooch belly, and the video I have of you and Chuck fighting in the hallway of B-19. The softball games, the cave with Mario and you telling him how to make the best drinks. Have a cold one with Ben, Dick, and all the other E&I boys. Dave, I will bet you 50 we will miss ya, Thanks for the memories, Stinson

I’m so sad to see the passing of Dave. He was officially my first team chief when I first arrived at Lindsey AS in June 1984 when I was wearing a total of two stripes, one on each arm. About two months later, I was transferred to another team, but I remember Dave well around the 1836th. He was a great leader to us young ones. In the mid 1990s, when I was an AFTA in NY, Red McDaniels and I used to run into Dave a lot at a bar at Keesler (I forgot the name… it’s on the beach) and we all used to pound the beers. Time flies, and Dave will be missed. E&I by God. CMSgt Dave Polon
