Danielle,

I'm the Maintenance Flight Chief here at Incirlik and a fellow Dawg (Cable-type). Shoot me an email at 'michael.freeman@incirlik.af.mil' or 'yggahs2u@yahoo.com' with your questions and/or interests and I'll do my best to fill in the blanks for you.

We have two female Wire Dawgs right now, one SSgt and one A1C. If you like I can hook you up with them too for different perspectives. Best of luck on your decision.

Danielle,
You will love the Dawgs at the "Lik. Cable and Wire always have a good time. I was the Section Chief there for three years. I left in 2007, but there are a few Dawgs there from my time that will take care of you and give you the scoop on where to go and what to do. I am a Wire Dawg and it was a ball there with Wire and Cable. Senior Freeman is a great guy and he will make sure you get the right tools to succeed and also enjoy your time there. Trust me...you will have a ball there. Not sure how the squadron is doing at this time, but your free time will be a joy. There will be some ups and downs, but that happens everywhere. I had the best time of my career at the "lik!!!

Danielle, I was at Incirlik from 2003-2005 (Cable Dawg). Pick Turkey over Osan any-day. I'm sure you will not be the only girl there.

As for tour lengths, its 15-months single or 24-months married and most likely get a chance to extend if you want. Good place to save some money. Turkey has a ton of things to-do. Just look in the base paper or stop by outdoor recreation. Don't just stay on base and let time pass by. I suggest signing up for weekend trips. It’s an adventure just waiting for you.

Dorms are not bad at all. Driving is a little crazy, maddening and heart pounding at times; I miss it. lol :)

For eating, your body will take some time to adjust to off-base food and I would not eat salad in the summer. Don't drink the water off base, unless bottled. On base is just fine. They will tell you all of this and more.

Shopping is plentiful and everything can be bartered for. If you go to Incrilik, take a class on Turkish speaking, it will help allot. Weather is warm 9-months out of the year and wet the other 3. Only thing I disliked was locals bugging you for money and seeing some people living in poverty but we have the same in the US. Good luck with whatever you decide. Post an update back with your choice.

Henry
