OPSEC Blues
Recently, thousands of GI's signed up for a site called togetherweserved.com
Not a bad site, but the AFSOC INTEL Folks have gotten a hold of it and are using it as the poster child for OPSEC information being posted on a public website. The site is hosted in Canada and owned by a German entity.
Anyways, I'm sure official guidance is forthcoming through OPSEC briefs, Commander's Call, 1st Sergeants, etc...most likely participation in social networking sites such as this one will be discouraged.
Participation can't be banned, but the sites can be blocked on military networks. If you have suggestions for for increasing the OPSEC friendliness while still maintaining the community nature of the site, post it here.
