James E. Carter

I am very saddened to inform you all of the passing of a great Cable Dawg. MSgt James Carter, retired, passed away on Oct 15 2009 after a long battle with cancer. October 15 was also his birthday. He had resided in Murfreesboro, TN after his retirement from the USAF. His Funeral was in Winchester, TN on Oct 18 2009 with subsequent interment at Franklin Memorial Garden of Winchester, with full military honors. Jimmy was a great military man, husband, father and all around genuine human being. Always the personality to support others, especially as witnessed by his leadership of the Boy Scouts. Jimmy was a good friend of mine and I personally will miss him very much. His personal request upon his passing was rather than friends and family send flowers, to make a donation to his scout troop. Troop 341, Care of Crossway Baptist Church, 4194 Shelbyville Hwy, Murfreesboro, TN 37127, if you are so inclined.

My condolences to his family and all who loved him. To know him was to love him.

I would like to share his favorite passage from the bible with you. It was always attached at the bottom of his e-mails: Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

We will miss you my friend,
Jimmy "Big Dawg" Avera
SMSgt USAF Retired

I had the privilege of having Jim as my first supervisor at Maxwell AFB in 1984. He was a good man and leader. He instilled qualities that would serve me well throughout my AF career. I was also fortunate enough to reconnect with him a few years back. I will remember him with fond memories. My condolences are extended to his family. Rest in peace my friend.
