Job Description
Maintain familiarity with corporate and customer cable installation guidance, ISO; IEEE; ANSI/TIA/EIA standards (particularly ANSI/TIA/EIA-569 Commercial Building Standard for Telecommunications Pathways and Spaces). Reviews and analyzes drawings to determine adequacy of drawing and design. Reviews site surveys, condition discrepancy reports, design drawings, technical manuals and other documentation for installation feasibility.
Confirms accurate cable terminations on cross connect, patch panels, hubs and routers. Familiar with industry troubleshooting and certification test equipment (OTDR/TDR/Certification Testers). Performs quality control checks. Uses procedures for Quality Systems and EVM telecommunications installation process best practices.
Conducts pre-installation testing. Assists in information gathering and documentation during site surveys. Coordinates with other program/project managers, installation supervisors and technicians in installing effective telecommunications networks and systems.
Provides ISP/OSP operation and maintenance support services for an Air Force Military Base Operations Contract.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree, or Apprenticeship and three years or, Associates degree and five years or, trade school and five years experience, or seven years experience (Degree should be in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, Computer Science or Technology or a related field of engineering study).
BICSI Certification Desired
Minimum of five years telecommunications experience. Two years of experience in DoD base environment is desired. Secret Clearance is a contract requirement. Previous installation experience in Air Force or DoD Repair; Electronic Maintenance; ISP/OSP maintenance contracts are a plus.
