CRUZ CARDENAS

Hi Everyone,
I recieved this note from Cheif Avitua today.

I hope you are all doing well. It has been some time now that I had been asking everyone I ran into if they had heard from Cruz Cardenas. Everyone I asked had not heard from him in a long time. My son surprised me by telling me that he had ran into Cruz's daughter on Facebook, so I asked him to ask her about her Dad. She replied last nigt by saying that Cruz passed away in June 2005. He was one day from deploying to Iraq from Cherry Point as a civilian when he suffered a fatal heart attack while sitting at his computer. I am very saddened to hear this news. Perhaps some of you may have already known, but I just found out about this a few minutes ago when I received my son's email and thought you may want to know.

RIP Cruz! Met him at my first duty station in FE Warren in the late 70's. Also was stationed with him in Germany in the early 90's, think he was the one who painted Dave Taylors harley tire? A good and funny man!

Cruz was my friend. I served with him at 1837 EIS, Yokota AB, Japan. We were deployed many times together. A good man lost. My prayers go out to his family.
