JOB DESC: Member of USAFE Special Maintenance Team (SMT). TDY/deploys to various locations throughout the USAFE AOR. Perform engineering & installations, annual optimization inspections on ATC/microwave/HF antenna systems. Conducts emergency repairs on copper cable, fiber optic cable, network cabling and ATC/microwave/HF antenna systems. Assemble steel towers & antenna support structures to include poles, guy/anchor systems, obstruction lighting, grounding/lightning protection systems at heights up to 800-ft. Conduct surveys, interpret drawings, directives, & technical orders supporting units implementing engineering & installations projects. Climbing certifies 3D1 personnel at main operating bases in the EUCOM AOR.
Qualifications: Seeking applicants with extensive knowledge of copper, fiber, network cabling, & ATC/microwave/HF antenna systems. Must maintain zero fear of heights & be physically capable of performing mid-air rappelling tasks. Must possess a SECRET security clearance (or higher) & an AF Form 422 (physical profile) stating member is cleared for worldwide duty with no restrictive codes preventing deployment. Must qualify IAW AFI 40-502, fitness and weight standards & participate in mandatory daily physical fitness training. Member must possess or be eligible to obtain Government Travel Card (GTC).
