Very sad to hear this. Many of us had the opportunity to work for Chief Woodall at Yokota AB. He was a great person to work for and to be around. He will be missed very much.

A great Chief and a wonderful friend.
Great memories of beer, cookouts and softball.
Never hesitated to help someone out.
The voice infrastructure in heaven just got better.
Rest in Peace Chief

I met (then MSgt) Woodall in 1983 at Incirlik when I was a one-winger AMN straight from the School House. He had just left the Instructor Supervisor position there. He knew exactly how I had just been trained. He held me to that level and taught me some more on that old Strowger step-by-step system.

On several occasions, he protected some of us airmen when our behavior didn't earn it. He kept good troops out of the chain of command's firing line.

He was the type of NCOIC everyone should start out with.

Very sad news indeed. Was also at Yokota with him. Personally, he was one of the last of the good Chiefs I've ever worked with. He knew what crap to filter out and gave the people just what they needed to hear. And he was always good for a laugh even during the worst circumstances. He always wore the same brown t-shirt during softball...and we poked fun at him everytime.
Rest in Peace, Chief...

This is very sad news for all that have ever known Woody. For those who did not know him, his legacy as a Dawg will live long after his passing. He became a Chief due to his total vision for all things wire and cable. Woody was true to the vision of unified wire and cable specialties, and is personally responsible for protecting the Dawgs from the outsourcing initiatives. I first worked with Woody at Sheppard when he was Inside Plant and I was cable. After I retired and became an instructor back at the cable shop, Chief Woody reinforced his commitment and dedication when he reassured our concerned workforce that we would remain gainfully employed for many years into the future. He understood his Dawgs and knew how to take care of them. Chief, thanks for your support and sacrifice. Rest in peace knowing you served in honor. My thoughts and prayers go out to Woody and his loved ones.
