Meridian Option 81

Does anybody have or know where I can find a quick reference guide for the meridian option 81 switch? I am doing some side contracting jobs and need to program and fix phones on the 81 switch but I have only been working on the MSL-100. Also a couple quick questions on the option 81:

1. Is there a number I can dial from the phone to give me the phone number of that line? (Like 159 on our MSL-100 switch)

2. Can I do a line test on this switch?

3. Can I send tone from the switch on a line? (like the tone gen command in the msl-100)

Check out www.ghtrout.com

There are a lot of lists on there about Meridian 1/CS 1000.

Good luck.

I have never seen a switch that has the call back information for that switch. Usually have to call a display phone or cell phone.

That switch has never done a line test and doesn't send tone on a line.

When working with those things for that switch, you have to have back-up plans for any cable testing.

I hate the M1 switches. They won't be manufactured after next year. Better get up to speed on VoIP!

All true. The one I worked with in Balad was a pain and the one here at Tyndall is even worse. Getting spun up on VoIP is a good call, but the TDM switches won't totally go away for a while since most AF and Army bases are going CS2100/XA Core Hybrid. I don't think you're gonna find much better for sites than what our fellow Dawgs have given. Good luck.

Hi - Along with our main CS2100/DMS/CICM manager - I have 2 fully blown Succession 1000/Opt 81c's translating from our CO.

For your basic MAC's and phone/servord on the switch you need to be up to speed on LD 11, 10,and Ld 20-21-22 print commands.

For trunk and D-channel inquires - Ld's 60 and 96 for D channel status.
For Coordinated Dialing plan - Ld 87, for NARS and Bars and Route List Index - Ld 86 and 87, Ld 90 for NPA and NXX translators.

The M1 switches do not have the high end test and trunk control/translations like the DMS/CS2100. All devices are generally run in an idle, disabled, enabled condition.I recommend you get an account on the Nortel web along with the sites listed below - they are for free if you register have all of the documentation needed. Nothing to hate about M1's for every 1 CS2100/DMS switch there are 30 M1's on the outside running college campuses and hospitals. They're fully digital call processors are very powerful - they lack in the fact that they run from the SUPERLOOP (basically the LGC equivalent) all the way to the IPEC's in a simplex configuration.

Your questions below.

1. No - the M1 does not offer this service. 2. For testing you need to use Ld 32 stat and TST commands. 3. N/a

Good Teching!!
