Mat Hill

My good friend and our dear 1st Sergeant from the 1839EIG at Keesler, Mat Hill, died on 27 November 2010 after a battle against cancer. Please say a prayer for him and his family. Also though he was not a Wire Dawg, he was loved by many.

I also remember Chief Matthew Hill from my time at the 1839th. I agree with Oakley, he was the best 1st Shirt I ever knew. They broke the mold after him. May he rest in peace, he will be missed.

I too was stationed with Chief Hill in command at the 1839th EIG 1984-1986. He was one tuff cookie. A true old school Chief! My condolences to his wife Anne and the family. You are in my thoughts and payers. Phyllis (Araujo) McNeil

Chief Hill was the 1st shirt when I was stationed with the 1839th. He was a good man, tough but always there if you needed something.
R.I.P. Chief, My condolences to his wife and family.

Agreeing with Oakley, best !st shirt ever! Mathew B, if I remember correctly, provided me personalized and targeted education in the early 80's on how and how not to behave. It stuck Chief, thanks! Stan
