SSgt Ryan Ihnken is Medically Retiring

That's right, you read correctly. My MEB went through and I am medically retiring. I do not have a seperation date yet, but I wanted to put out the word to all Dawgs who I have worked with and who know me, or just if anyone cares. So if you would like to get a hold of me, I will put some contact information down.

In case someone didn't know what was going on, 2006 I herniated a disk in my back and had a surgery, 3 years later the same disk ruptured again and then another year after that it ruptured a 3rd time causing perminate nerve damage. Thus making me undeployable and useless to the Air Force in an active duty sort of way.

I start TAPS class next week, and the job hunting has already began.

So if you would like to get a hold of me, you're more then welcome to.

You can shoot me an e-mail at ihnken33@gmail.com and if you want to call me, e-mail me first and then I'll give out my phone number.

So come October/November of 2011, after 12+ years, I will be done with my active duty career and going on to start with a job and veterans agencies like the VFW (which had a great influence on me back at Offutt) and the American Legion. Thank you all who I served with, it was an honor to serve with most of you, and the rest... well, we won't go there.

Thanks Chief! Miss the yellow corvett being parked on the back side of the theater every morning!

And I'll never forget those runs with you and Carr at spang. Every day! You really cared for your people and that's something I admire. Thank you sir, for all you did and continue to do. You were a huge inspiration to us all!

haha Yeah the Chief's run where the bomb. I hated having to do them, but by God they sure did the trick. Glad to see the medical system actually did something for you...even if it was just a MEB, I only got blocked by my CC for reupping since the med group at Robins wouldn't say there was anything wrong with my hip but just kept giving me waivers.

Oh well, enough bellyaching. Wish you the best Ihnk! You piece of Sh!t! BTW I've moved to Atlanta this week 8/2/2011 so I won't be on PS3, etc for awhile.

Daniel P! Ha ha, great to hear from you.

PS3... doesn't matter, you never reply to me anyway.

Thanks though, those runs were killer though, espicially that small incline right behind the post office and up the hill from there... ugh. I HATED those.

Thanks for the good things, hope it's all working well for you in Atlanta!

Q and Chief Sanders! Thanks!

Q, ill give you a call.

Chief, it was great serving with you as well. My wife made me get rid of most of them ha ha. I thin I have maybe 30 now out of the origional 278 I left korea with. Ssgt Correa beat me at PCSing with well over 300. Impressive.

Still, I look forward to the future. Hope I can find gainful employment. If all else fails, I'm going to go drive a zamboni!.

While this is still on the front page, I figured I would add the party to the post.

If any one wants to stop by, I am doing it right, an entire weekend of retirement partying. I will cook just about everything that I can. Mainly BBQ!

I'll have a keg in my kegerator, food on the grill, and a place to stay for anyone needing to stay. For 1 weekend only! If your interested, shoot me an e-mail for details.

Sure Cheif! You get a rain check. Hope our paths cross again sometime.

As for now, I have a retirement date. 1 Dec 2011, I will be retired. So that is great news for me.

No plans yet, but things are in the works. Fall back plan is the post 911 gi bill with the SSgt BAH to get through school. So that is one that is staying in place unless something else comes along.

Ihnken,

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. Sorry that it had to come by way of MEB, but you gave the Air Force 12 of the best years that it could ever experience with a WireDawg. I was honored to have known you and worked with you back at Spangdahlem.

Take care and best of luck on your future endevours. I recently retired and LOVE it!!!!!
