MSgt Frank Godfrey

Frank Godfrey passed away on 1 May 2004, at 01:25hrs in the morning. He left behind his loving wife Inge, daughter Arlene, Son Johnny and Grandsons Alexander and Micheal.

He was a true GEEIA / E&I Warrior with all of the grumbling and other things that you needed to be a good E&I Team Chief.

Frank's humor and concern will always be remembered by those of us who knew him well along with his love of those Pittsburg Steelers even while living in Cowboy's Country.

I'm very sadden to hear of MSgt Frank Godfrey's passing. I knew him while I was with the 1827th EI and he kept the Antenna section working smoothly. And threw an occasional friendly jab at the Cable section. He was a fine Air Force blue suiter and a finer example of an Old WireDawg! Go easy!

Respectfully,
Peter M. Hanton

Frank was truly one-of a kind.

When I was 20 we shared hangover remedies When we met again and I was 40, he was trying to share his cholesterol medicine since I was a hundred points above him. Two weeks ago it was smoking. Think I'll have a beer and a chicken fried steak this weekend but after that, the after-dinner smoke is going to be gone soon.

Being in Berlin in '84 and listening to his stories of serving there in I think the 60's (hell, when Christ was a corparal maybe) while walking around the city was a memory that lasted By God. That was about the only time he really got about himself, talking about meeting Inge and getting married. Inge, Frank truly loved you.

Although I never met them, I think I know just about everything Johnny and Arlene ever got in trouble about when we were with Frank. Neat thing was always the sparkle in Frank's eyes when he tried to act mad. You guys are blessed to have him as a father.

A very long shadow in our sunny days has faded. Quote Steve Reiff: "God Speed Frank Godfrey".

God Speed for sure our dear friend, and God Bless for sharing your life with us.

Young Dawgs: find the cranky, old guy in the shop and listen to him. What you absorb will pay off someday and the gems of humor and wisdom you get will last a lifetime.

God Bless The Godfrey Family

Frank was an ICON to me when I joined the 1836 back in `84. He was somewhat a father figure and a guiding force. He will be sadly missed.

My deepest sympathy to Franks family. I also knew Frank while at the 1827 EIS, Kelly AFB. Frank was an unique individual. He would tell it like it was with no politics or hidden agenda. When you first met him you were advised, "Do not ****** him off" If you ******ed off him and then Chief Cooper you were in bad shape. God Bless you MSgt Godfrey!

My deepest and most heart felt sympathies to the Godfrey family. I first met Frank in the 1827 EIS back in 1987. He was wise as he was grumpy and we loved him for it. Frank and I got along pretty well. I learned to throw darts (both the game, and the Dumb Ass Radio Troops) in England, and Frank was always up for a game. I have to admit he did play well. Frank and I were both die hard Steelers fans and had many discussions about how good Pittsburg was and how much the Dallas Cryboys sucked. I know Frank is in heaven this moment, because God is also a die hard Steelers fan. When I see Frank again maybe we will throw a game of double on- double off 501 and talk about the Steelers greats. I don’t drink that much nowadays, but tonight I will drink a cold pint in remembrance of a good friend, and a hell of a WIRE DAWG, and thank him all memories he has left us. I want to second Steve Reiff: "God Speed Frank Godfrey". You will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Frank's family and friends. I will always remember Frank as a good friend. We were both on TSgt Ray G. Reagin's E&I team while assigned to the 1836 EIS back in 74/75. He will be missed.

Sad to hear. He was a good guy and I remember after he retired he would still visit us on some of the local jobs at Kelly/Lackland that never seemed to finish.

He will be missed

Frank was a super guy! His passing reminds us of our humanity, and serves to knit those left with a tighter knot.
The last time I spoke to Frank, he and his son were going to use my pick up truck to get some fire wood. That's been years and I didn't even know he had passed even thow he lived just a few miles away.
He is missed and we must never forget him or his contributations as well as his friendship.

I wish to add my name to the list of folks with good memories of Frank. On the job, always a pro and soemone to look up to as he made his way around the 1836 EI wire section. He was someone young, punk airmen could learn from and many of us did.
