The "Lik" was a true CAT team!!

I was a member of one the best darn CAT teams in the whole Republic of Turkey!! 1985-1988 at Incirlik AB. Boy did we have some awesome times. This was all "pre war" times and boy was it a great place to be. The beaches were probably one of the best highlights of the whole tour. At that time there were no restrictions to the base as I'm sure there are now. The alley was an great place just to go hang out and have a few brews (on the carpet venders and other merchants down there)Some of the best times was driving around the Republic to the various Air Stations that were joint American/Turkish bases. We had some wild road trips. I remember one that we took up the coast to Izmir and then up to Istanbul. That was back in the day when they gave flat rate per diem and you didnt have to give any reciepts. We were gone for 30 days at $100.00 per day. In Turkey you could live on 20 bucks a day and still be living well. I could sit here and ramble for days but I won't bore you. Hers a few guys that may remember these times: Bill Yates, Bill Lee, Micheal Bruseau. If you know of these guys let know that " Swami" says hey!!

And you always knew when Swami was in the area as dirt and debris would start caving in on your head when he neared the splice pit. Hi Swami................

No kidding....one awesome tour! I was there from 87-89...antenna troop! If I remember right...Dagenheart was the chief, Crow, Gordy, Fisher, Steve McCauley, Greg & Pam Lunsford, Curt, Frog, Bill Yates, Bob Souders, Pat, Dixon and "BLUE" of course...and the countless others that are escaping my memory! I remember a lot of fights in the NCO Club, none were our fault of course! Good times...and great people!

I was in incirlik 98 to 01 and had a great time. We went on road trips to Izmir and Ankra. Had so much of a good time we extended a year. I was there with Docca, Robert Hill, and many others. GREAT tour.

The Lik was a great first assignment, even for an inside plant troop. The improvements have been outstanding since they removed the single-wide mobile homes in 1983.

Howdy !! hey also Inside plant across 85, wow - the cable troops were the entertainment 150% !!!
We used to camp over at "white cliffs" ( I forget the Turk name ) and the cable guys made a LASTING story of what happened in Turkey at the Med !! Namely by doing full flips off the 35 ' cliff out into the Med with a bottle of Jack in one hand and another cable troop in the other - of course he would have the Tequila or Effees in his other hand !! haha
I saw a Turk come up outta there once with an octopus wrapped around his arm ! Cable guy went in & helped him with it.
I remember seeing Blue as well. I was on 1st assignment as well & it ranks as my favorite base.
The days of the stepper (Strodger step by step CO) & The LIK !!! damn I hadn't even discovered Southern Comfort that young.

I should have some photos of this area - I will dig out & post later on.

Thanks for the Memories Cable !! WAG

Hey Swami, Just thought I would drop a note to say Hi. This is John Regan. I talked with Steve Sudlow a couple months back. He is alive and well in Philly. He owns his fathers insurance business now. I am in Wisconsin working for a small phone company. I was in management for ATT but I hated it so I went back to being a I & R tech. I saw some of the other guys out there but have never heard of the whereabouts of Al Forstall. Has anybody?

The good old Lik.

I was stationed there from Jan 1984 - Feb 1986, and returned numerous times from 1995-1998

I loved the TDY's all over the country. up to 30 days at a whack doing PMI's. some cool locations, some not so cool. from nice resort hotels to day room floors atop a mountain communications site. Gypsies attacking us trying to steal out of our trucks. Eating stuff at roadside cafes that we couldn't identify. breaking down in the middle of nowhere, hiking to a small town, playing dominoes with Turks that spoke no English while we were waiting for help.

What was the yard dogs name.. Blue If i recall. that was one mean dog. LOLOL.

I remember good ole Jimmy Parker, we would run out to the Lake in town and ride his little boat. Other names will come back to me, as this was ions ago..... think Ron, think ..oh yea.. Ed Dooley.. The shop parties were awesome. shut down early on Friday's and party.
