Thought I'd post a message for anyone who might know where a young retired cable/ antenna dawg like myself can find employment outside of Wisconsin. Unfortunately, our once quaint little paper mill town is faced with massive layoffs and possible plant closing within the next few years thus affecting the local economy. I've done both cable and antenna and I'm willing to relocate throughout the U.S. I would appreciate any leads.

Tom,
Visit www.natehome.com, then click on the members link. There you will find a ton of tower company websites and many are looking for new hires. You're experience will be a plus. There are quite a few tower companies in you're region. If you're really looking to travel and or relocate the possibilities are almost endless and I'm certain that you'll find work in the tower industry.
I seperated in '84 as a cable/antenna dawg and still in it, the training I received during the 4 years I was in I would consider orientation compared to the vast knowledge & training I received on the outside, besides it pays much better.
If you need any help in locating some work contact me. I know many members of NATE (National Association of Tower Erectors), I'll point you in the right direction.
I wish I had this media when I got out, I had to bust down many doors to get with the right company.
Good Luck

Tom! Haven't seen you since EI reunion at Keesler a few years back. Your reply from Curtis Haack is right on...I was a voting member of NATE for my previous employer for many years...it is a great source for that kind of work. I will keep my eyes peeled for any really good opportunities. There are several old wire dawgs down here inthe tower business...Myself, Bob Souders, Adam Bell & Lou Leeser. Keep in touch & wwe'll find you something!
